Kathmandu School of Law hosted the 14th edition of the International Winter Residential School on Economic, Social, and Development Rights (ESDR) from 28th December to 17th January 2019 in collaboration with Fairfield Institute of Management and Technology (FIMT), India.
The diploma course of 21 days, with Economic, Social, and Development Rights as the Central theme, had discussions and deliberations on 'Harmonizing Foreign Investment with Economic Social and Development Rights.'
The theme was selected, recognizing the need to create harmony between a foreign investment with economic, social, and development rights. It is hard to provide these rights without the harmonization of foreign investment. ESDR of any country is dependent on the economy of that country. If the economy is stagnant, it is nearly impossible for a state to protect the rights of the people. Thus, foreign investments can play a pivotal role in the attainment of economic, social, and development rights by uplifting the country's economy.
