Practical Information
Airport Pickup
We have requested all the participants to kindly book their tickets for arrival on 20th August 2018 We have arranged shuttle services from Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu to Kathmandu School of Law premise from morning to evening. From there, students will be taken to the KSL Outreach Campus located in Kavre District. It takes two hours from the airport to reach KSL Outreach Campus. If you are unable to book your tickets on that date, kindly inform us about it. We can suggest you affordable accommodation in the city. If you choose to stay in the accommodation suggested by us, we can pick you up on the 20th August. Please be advised that we cannot contribute to your accommodation expense if you arrive before the 20th August 2018 and depart after 31st August 2018.
Accommodation
You will be accommodated throughout the length of the program at the extended campus of Kathmandu School of Law at Bhakundebesi, Kavre District, Kathmandu. The venue is earthquake resistant and emulates a rural lifestyle although essential facilities are available; participants are expected to cooperate and be prepared for the same. Please also note that you will be sharing rooms with other participants as a symbol of friendship and acceptance.
Dress Codes
Formal Clothes are required for special ceremonies such as inaugural and closing functions. While you will be expected to be present in the class in a decent manner, we recommend semi-formal attire; you are permitted to wear casual clothing off-sessions.
Also the venue is located at a hilly area with rocky terrain, therefore we advise you to carry Trekking shoes or other comfortable shoes, Windproof Warm Jackets and all other essentials to keep yourself comfortable as it is quiet windy during evening time.
*Please be informed that laundries are to be done by the participants themselves. Hot water might not be available all the time, therefore for your convenience, we suggest you to carry enough clothing for your stay.
Staffs and Volunteers
Our staffs and volunteers will accompany you from the airport pickup throughout the program. During the Residential School period, there are designated personnel to take care of your academic needs. There are volunteers who will try their best to help you as well.
Internet
The KSL Outreach Campus is well equipped with 24 hours free Wi-Fi facility. We will provide you with login ID and password once you reach the Outreach Campus.
Laptops
Please carry your laptops as they will be required during the program and we will not be able to provide desktop or laptops for use.
Presentations and Photographs
At the end of each course day, participants will be provided with the presentations made on that day. Photographs taken by our official photographers will be distributed at the end of the program to all participants in the same pen drive. We request you not to take any photographs during the sessions. Further, if you do not wish to get photographed, please advise the same in advance otherwise we shall deem it as consent for you to have agreed to be photographed during the sessions by our official photograph. Those photos will be utilized by the organizers for publication and administrative purposes.
Food and Dietary Requirements
If you have any dietary restrictions, please contact us as soon as possible. We will make arrangements for participants with dietary restrictions. As a matter of experience, we have catered to participants with a wide range of dietary restrictions, based on health, choice or faith.
Medicines and Special Equipment’s
Common and basic first aid services will be readily available in the Infirmary at the Outreach Campus. If you are under specific medication, please do not forget to get them.
Stationeries and Basic Materials
Students will be provided basic stationary set (pens, notebook, reference materials and side bag). Basic personal items such as toothbrush, toothpaste and toiletries, including soap, shampoo and towels as well as grooming mirrors and razors are to be brought by the participants.
Weather of Kathmandu Valley and the Outreach Campus
The maximum, minimum and the average temperature of Kathmandu and the Outreach Campus during October – November is tabulated below. As the altitude of Outreach Campus is slightly high, you can notice a slight temperature difference. Please expect the Residential School venue to be windy.

Program Day Specific Practical Information
Opening Ceremony
On 21st August, opening ceremony for ‘The Kathmandu Dialogue’ will take place from 0200PM – 05:00 PM at Rashtriya Sabha Griha, Kathmandu, Nepal. Participants are kindly requested to put on formal clothes for opening ceremony. Group Photo will also be taken on the same day. On other course days, semi-formal clothes are permitted, as stated above.
Cultural Night Program
Participants are requested to wear their cultural or national dress and provide some presentation on their culture. Dance, songs, poems and other culturally significant presentations peculiar to the nation or culture will be performed on that night. Participants are requested to prepare accordingly.
Trekking/Travel Day
Participants may need to walk for some distance. We recommend you to bring Shoes/Trekking Shoes or Sports Shoes and appropriate clothes which make it comfortable to walk in hill terrain.
Rules and Code of Conduct
On the first day, participants will be oriented about the Rules and Code of Conduct which is to be complied with throughout the 10 days.
