The Centre for Philosophical and Juristic Discourse (CPJD) exhibits a discursive method of understanding the philosophical dimension of contemporary issues. It focuses on the transformational cultivation of critical learning within academic plethora by engaging students, intellectuals, policymakers, leaders and professionals. It aims to develop and inspire a tradition of learning that would help the participants confront philosophical problems implicit in contemporary issues and play a stimulating role in being a common cross-disciplinary collaborative platform across diverse academia to initiate intellectual dialogues.
To realize the ethos demonstrated through the mission statement, CPJD will be focused towards the attainment of the following objectives:
- Develop and inspire a tradition of learning that would help the participants confront philosophical problems implicit in contemporary issues.
- Play a stimulating role in being a common cross-disciplinary collaborative platform across diverse academia to initiate intellectual dialogues.
- Promote discursive method of academic engagement.
- Disseminate the outcomes of academic engagement to audience beyond immediate participants through publications along with the usage of social media and e-platforms.
Activities during the years:
CPJD with its Flagship video lecture series intends to educate the general public regarding fundamental and contemporary issues of the society. This is a dawn to the formation of a video library for future generation to define fundamental semantics.
With completion of Inaugural Symposium on ‘Eastern and Western Philosophy: Transcending the Great Divide’ and the first debate between teaching faculties at the institution in a one of its kind setting in collaboration with KSL Debates, CPJD aims to enrich the discussion forum with launch of more of these programs. CPJD is directly under the authoritative agency of the executive director of Kathmandu School of Law. Executive director of Kathmandu School of law is the Program Chair of CPJD. Executive director’s secretariat serves as the oversight agency to look after activities performed through CPJD.
As of now, Prof. Dr. Yubaraj Sangroula is the Program Chair of CPJD and Mr Sachin Siwakoti is the coordinator.
