KSL Mourns Sad Demise of Prof. Christof Hyens
It is with great shock and sadness; Kathmandu School of Law mourns the untimely passing away of Professor Christof Heyns. Prof. Heyns, a Professor of Human Rights Law, not only served as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions from 2010 to 2016 but was also a champion of human rights education. KSL had the opportunity to host him as a panellist in the opening session of the International Confluence of Academicians 2020. We were closely working with him for the Nepal School Moots of Human Rights, an extension under the support of Global Campus of Human Rights of National School Moots Competition initiated by the Professor Christof at University of Pretoria until his untimely death. Professor Christof’s death is a devastating loss to the field of Human Rights. He will be greatly missed. However, we are sure his legacy will be carried forth by human rights enthusiasts who have been greatly inspired by his work, contribution, enthusiasm, and dedication to the field.
KSL will dedicate the first edition of Nepal School Moots of Human Rights to be held in April to Prof. Christof Hyens.
