About B.A. LL.B. Program

KSL offers a five-year B.A. LL.B. course after the completion of +2 or an intermediate course in any stream. The course comprises studies of wide range of legal areas. The B.A.LL.B course is designed to relate the study of law with a wide range of professional fields, social sciences, and technology. Hence, in the initial years, the first and second years, students are familiarized with the basic principles of political science, economics, sociology, and management, and their significance in law is demonstrated. Besides, in these years, fundamental principles and concepts of law, legislative principles, and theories of criminal and procedural laws are discussed. In the third year, students are exposed to advanced theories and principles of law, such as trial advocacy, ethics, constitutionalism, etc. In the fourth and fifth years, the course intends to generate specialized knowledge in different domains of legal science.

The course aims to develop adequate analytical power and critical thinking among students. There are four basic areas of specialization offered in the fourth and fifth years which are:
 
1) Criminal Law 
2) Constitutional Law
3) Business Law
4) Environment and Development Law
 
The course requires students to engage in research and community outreach activities as a part of the curriculum. As per the course objectives, they have been involved in various applied research activities and community outreach programs. The mandatory clinical teaching approach has made them excellent in case preparation, client interviewing, and counseling. To ensure that the students are fully able to compete with their peers both regionally and internationally, English is the compulsory medium of communication in classes. Seminars, interaction sessions, and workshop programs organized for the academic enhancement of the students are also conducted in English.
