Introduction:
Moot Courts Department (MCD) is responsible for the coordination and selection of the students representing the institution in national as well as international Moot Court Competitions. It focuses on developing a base of Public International Law among the students within KSL while fostering an environment based on legal research. It aims to encourage, engage and enhance the capabilities within the students through various Moot Courts competition.
Activities during the year
The Henry Dunant 2019 team selected under the department won the national rounds, making KSL defending champions of the Henry Dunant Moot Court Competition for 15th time in a row. The team represented KSL in the regional rounds in December 2019. Consecutively team members for Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition 2019, Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition 2020, Jean Pictet Competition 2020 and Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot 2020 were selected through rigorous intramural rounds for each moot court competition with overwhelming number of student participation and support from KSL alumni as well. The department also conducted Moot Court Training program focusing on the students from 1st to 3rd year in the beginning of December. Following the training program, KSL through the Moot Courts Department is conducting its first ever Preamble Moot Court Competition on the theme of International Human Rights Law.
